Otoplasty corrects the shape and position of the ears. It is most commonly used for prominent (sticky-out) ears by reshaping cartilage and positioning the ears closer to the head. The incision is usually behind the ear so the scar is hidden. It can be performed in children from around age 5–6 or in adults under local or general anesthesia, with a short recovery.
